Newcastle’s indie trio Bear Park have risen to national acclaim with the release of their self-titled debut album which has been praised by the likes of Dork and BBC Introducing for its quirky flair and energetic vibrancy. The album was also produced by Gary Powell (The Libertines) and released via his own 25 Hour Convenience Store label. Gary described the trio as “three northern hoodlums armed with fast firing guitars and drums”.
Bear Park, mixed by Alex Quinn at Kempston Street, and mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine mastering, captures the spirit of youth, barreling through energetic indie anthems while also showcasing moments of emotive poignancy. This balance between emotion and energy is something that is carefully constructed in the mix and refined in the master, enhancing the subtleties of the backing instrumentation to bring a full, complex feel to their sound.
The success of the album has brought them a great deal of live opportunities including support slots alongside The Libertines, Junodream and fellow Geordie star Andrew Cushin. They have also had a huge summer, appearing at Howay fest, Hardwick festival and Coast fest. This run of electrifying live performances have set them in good stead for their biggest ever London headline show at Dingwalls this December.
