Liverpool’s Motel Sundown have been quickly rising on the local scene and were recently crowned the winners of the first ever Liverpool Celebrates’ Battle of the Artists. The stylised Americana trio are at the heart of a big resurgence of the genre across the UK and have become widely regarded as one of the most authentic and exciting Americana groups in the country.
This status has recently been cemented by the release of their new EP ‘El Dorado’ which was described by Americana UK as “an excellent listen…showing off the band’s strengths both vocally and as songwriters”.
The EP, mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine Mastering, is laced with rich vocal harmonies and a warming vintage aesthetic, something which lies at the heart of the Motel Sundown style. Seamlessly switching between velvety serenades and earthy Folk-tinged ballads, the five tracks explore a range of atmospheres and textures while always allowing a vein of true Americana to flood through the sound.
The success of the EP has come at the perfect time, coinciding with a host of unforgettable live shows in 2024 including a sold out headline show at Liverpool Philharmonic, support slots alongside Louis Berry and MT Jones as well as stunning performances at Strawberry Field, Jacaranda Records’ Rock & Roll Circus and the Cafe Nero stage at Black Deer Festival.
