Soup! are quickly becoming Manchester’s leading stake in the new, quirky post-punk scene, riding the wave of the art rock influence to modern post-punk and showcasing their undoubted talent with their string of singles filled with intricate rhythms that are both angsty and dance worthy. Their memorable live sets at the UK’s leading new music festivals such as Live at Leeds, Neighbourhood Festival, BlueDot Festival and Manchester Psych Fest have set them apart from their peers due to the sheer energy that they radiate when performing.
The latest offering in this impressive run of singles is ‘Supplies’, a track that combines the gloomy vocal melodies of post-punk with elements of funk and disco, balancing these crisp, upbeat rhythms with a moodier vocal atmosphere. Produced & Mixed by Seadna McPhail at Airtight Studios in Manchester, and mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine Mastering, the song encapsulates all elements of their sound, drifting from one end of their sonic palette to the other in moments.
The track has gained support from a host of outlets known for discovering the next new noise such as BBC Radio London and Louder Than War who described them as “the biggest band in the county that you have not heard of yet”.
