Pop Rock quintet The Accident Group are one of Manchester’s most exciting new exports, quickly making a name for themselves thanks to a run of memorable hometown gigs including a scintillating headline show at Gulliver’s.
Their debut single ‘The Myth of Sisyphus’, mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine Mastering, has been met with a great perception, causing quite a stir within the city and being lauded by national publications. Louder Than War described the track as “sparkling indie pop” and Hard Of Hearing said that the band have an “essential sense of fun”. The song is filled with wry cynicisms as they retell a Greek myth with all the flippant tongue-in-cheek attitude of the 21st century. Retro synth textures flavour the otherwise indie-rock toned sonic landscape injecting a playful atmosphere into the track.
The vocal flair that dances throughout the verses rings of modern post-punk / art rock bands as each syllable is cast into the ether with an angsty yet vibrant flourish. Yet, the chorus reverts to a more straight-up melodic delivery as the band barrel into an infectious indie rock singalong.
The Accident Group have already kicked off festival season in strong form with an unforgettable set at FOCUS Wales yet they have plenty more to come for the rest of 2023!
