Hailing from the industrial landscape of Preston, The Empire Police concoct a melodic, electro-rock blend that balances big vocal hooks with a dense and fury-filled instrumentation full of energy. Far from newcomers to the scene, the quartet, who were described by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson as “completely extraordinary”, have grown a cult reputation thanks to their consistently direct and anthemic singles that they have been releasing for the last 7 years.
Their recent release ‘Northern Bones’, mixed by the band's very own Tom Hale, and mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine Mastering, is one of their most eclectic and complex tracks to date, constantly brimming with sonic interest. The track captures their live intensity which has earned them support slots alongside Cabbage, Trampolene, Twisted Wheel and The Sherlocks whilst balancing the raucous, dark riffs of the chorus with the more gentle swelling atmosphere of the lower moments that allow the vocal finesse to shine.
The single has already been met with wide acclaim, being played on BBC Introducing Lancashire, BBC Introducing’s Rock Show on Radio 1 and earning the band the title of ‘Artist of the week’ on Future Hits Radio as well as a place on Apple Music’s ‘New In Rock’ playlist. The Empire Police have already started the new year with a bang with this hugely successful new release and a run of memorable live shows in the north of England but there’s plenty more to come in the rest of 2023.
